Specifications from the Moffat Australia Washtech XPC spec sheet (PDF download).
The Washtech XPC is a pass through dishwasher with a SEED certified heat recovery unit on top, so it does not need an external extraction canopy. It is the Washtech XP with heat recovery: 500mm x 500mm racks, up to 1,080 plates an hour on 1, 2 or 3 minute cycles, hybrid controls and a 1.0HP wash pump, on a 595 to 640mm bench gap. It runs on cold water at 2.4 litres per cycle and 415V three phase. $9,980 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.
Best for: Sites that want the steam captured at the machine, such as a closed-in dish room, or where a certifier will not sign off a pass through without a canopy or a condenser, and that want simple controls without paying for a touchscreen.
Washtech XPC overview
The XPC is the newest pass through in the Washtech range and the lowest cost way into heat recovery on a 500mm rack. It takes the Washtech XP, with its simple hybrid controls and 1.0HP pump, and adds a heat recovery unit on top that captures the steam from each cycle. If your kitchen is well ventilated, check whether you need it at all: the XP on its 15A plug may not need a hood, and it is $4,000 less. If you want a touchscreen and an assured rinse with heat recovery, the Washtech M2C is the step up. If you only need a 450mm rack, the Washtech M1C is the compact heat recovery machine.
How the heat recovery unit works
Cold water feeds through the heat recovery unit on its way into the machine. The steam from each cycle condenses on it, which takes the steam out of the air and preheats the incoming water at the same time. That cuts steam emissions and the energy needed to bring cold water up to wash and rinse temperature. Moffat can supply the SEED certification on request.
How the Washtech XPC cleans
A 1.0HP wash pump drives the wash through a heavy-duty stainless steel wash manifold. Slide the rack in, pull the hood down and the cycle starts on its own. The final rinse is at 82°C, stainless steel scrap trays with a wash and drain filter catch the scraps, and the drain pump empties the machine at the end of service.
Which Washtech pass through do I need?
All four take the standard 500mm rack and a 595 to 640mm bench gap. The XPC and M2C have the heat recovery unit.

Simple to use
Pick a 1, 2 or 3 minute cycle, slide the rack in and pull the hood down. AutoStart does the rest. Behind the selector is Washtech's hybrid control system: two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature, so there is less to go wrong and repairs are cheap. The Washtech control families are explained in our Washtech controls guide.
Warranty and support
The Washtech XPC is covered by 2 years on site parts and labour from Moffat Australia, with a national service network and spare parts stocked locally. Full details on our warranty page.
Frequently asked questions
Who makes the Washtech XPC?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. Moffat distributes and services Washtech in Australia.
What is the difference between the Washtech XPC and the Washtech XP?
The XPC is the Washtech XP with a heat recovery unit on top. Same 500mm rack, same bench gap, same hybrid controls, 1.0HP pump and up to 1,080 plates an hour. The XPC connects to cold water, runs on 415V three phase and stands 2010mm high against 1530mm for the XP. The XPC is $4,000 more ex GST. If a canopy is an option, or you are running the XP on its 15A plug, the XP. If not, the XPC.
What is the difference between the Washtech XPC and the M2C?
Both are 500mm rack pass throughs with a heat recovery unit. The XPC keeps the simple hybrid controls of the XP. The Washtech M2C adds a touchscreen with Heads Up Display, a soft start pump and an assured rinse with dual boilers and a rinse pump, for $1,700 more ex GST.
Does the Washtech XPC need an exhaust hood?
No. The heat recovery unit captures the steam at the machine, so it does not need an external extraction canopy, and Moffat has the SEED certification for it on request. If you are deciding between the XPC and the XP, read Do commercial dishwashers need a hood or a condenser? first, as the XP on its 15A plug may not need a hood either. Call us on 0412 034948 before you buy.
How does the heat recovery unit work?
Cold water feeds through the heat recovery unit on its way into the machine. The steam from each cycle condenses on it, which takes the steam out of the air and preheats the incoming water at the same time.
What does SEED certification mean?
SEED stands for Sustainable by Engineering, Environment by Design. Moffat can supply the full SEED details and certification for the XPC on request, which is the paperwork a certifier or council will ask for.
Why does the XPC run on cold water and three phase?
It connects to cold water, under 25°C, which runs through the heat recovery unit to absorb the steam. Because it starts from cold and has to reach wash and rinse temperature, it needs the heating capacity of 415V three phase, 9kW. Your electrician makes the connection.
Can the Washtech XPC run on single phase?
It can, but it needs to be modified by a technician and the rinse takes longer to recover between cycles. Talk to us before you order if single phase is all you have.
What are the hybrid controls on the Washtech XPC?
Hybrid is Washtech's name for the X series control system: two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature. You pick a 1, 2 or 3 minute cycle, slide the rack in and pulling the hood down starts the cycle. There is nothing to program, and the parts are simple and cheap to replace. Our Washtech controls guide compares it with the touchscreen.
What water flow does the Washtech XPC need?
Cold water under 25°C through a 3/4 inch male connection, at 100 to 500kPa and 10 litres a minute.
Will the Washtech XPC fit my bench?
The bench gap adjusts from 595mm to 640mm and it needs a 710mm deep bench. It is 730mm wide and 2010mm high including the heat recovery unit, so check your ceiling height. For an inline install the front panels can be adjusted to 605mm. If you need the whole cabinet under 650mm wide, ask us, as Moffat makes a version for that.
What clearance does it need?
Allow 300mm at the front for service access. For corner installs the machine must face left for access to the controls, and any splashback return should be no higher than 150mm.
Is the drain pump built in?
Yes. The drain pump is standard. It drains through a 25mm flexi hose, so there is no gravity drain needed.
How many racks per hour does the Washtech XPC wash?
The machine side of the job is 1, 2 or 3 minutes per rack. Real throughput depends on how quickly racks are loaded and unloaded, so the rated figure of up to 1,080 plates an hour is the ceiling, not a guarantee.
Are detergent and rinse aid pumps included?
Yes. Dual chemical pumps are fitted as standard.
What comes with the Washtech XPC?
The machine, one 500mm dish rack (600 70028), one 500mm cup rack (600 70029), a cutlery container (C660503), and a connection kit with the water, drain and chemical hoses. There is no lead or plug, as it is hardwired.
How big is the Washtech XPC packed?
Packed it is 760mm wide, 820mm deep and 2015mm high, and weighs 142kg. Check your doorways, ceiling heights and any stairs before delivery day.
How much is delivery on the Washtech XPC?
Delivery is typically $120 plus GST. Use the Freight Cost Guide button on this page for the exact price to your postcode, including whether a tailgate is needed.
Is the Washtech XPC WaterMark approved?
Yes. It has WaterMark approved backflow prevention, using an atmospheric vacuum breaker.
Can I get a scratch and dent Washtech XPC?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display units at a reduced price. Ask if you want one and we will check availability.
