Specifications from the Moffat Australia Washtech XP spec sheet (PDF download).

The Washtech XP is a commercial pass through dishwasher with a 500mm x 500mm rack, rated at up to 1,080 dishes an hour on 1, 2 or 3 minute cycles. It uses 2.2 litres of water per cycle, rinses at 82°C, has a 430mm clearance under the hood for tall items, and its bench gap adjusts from 595mm to 640mm. It plugs into a standard 15A 240V outlet, needs no exhaust hood on 15A in a well ventilated space, and has an easy change to 25A or three phase for faster rinse recovery. $5,980 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.

Best for: Cafes, restaurants and clubs that want a reliable pass through at the lowest cost, without the professional controls of the M2.

Does a pass through dishwasher need an exhaust hood?

Sometimes not, which could save you thousands. For the full story go to Do commercial dishwashers need a hood or a condenser? Before you spend money on a hood or a condenser machine, call us on 0412 034948 for more information.

Washtech XP overview

The XP is the simple 500mm rack pass through in the Washtech range. Unlike the Washtech M2, it rinses on mains water, so there is no break tank or rinse pump to buy or maintain, which keeps the price down. It runs the same hybrid controls and 1.0HP wash pump as the compact Washtech XM, at the same price, on a bigger rack. If you need trays and sheet pans through it or more speed, the Washtech XL is the step up.

How the Washtech XP cleans

A 1.0HP wash pump drives the wash and rinse arms through a heavy-duty stainless steel wash manifold. Slide the rack in, pull the hood down and the cycle starts on its own. The final rinse is at 82°C, stainless steel scrap trays with a wash and drain filter catch the scraps, and the drain pump empties the machine at the end of service.

Which Washtech pass through do I need?

All four run on hot water. The differences are rack size, throughput, controls and the rinse system.

Simple to use

Pick a 1, 2 or 3 minute cycle, slide the rack in and pull the hood down. AutoStart does the rest. Behind the selector is Washtech's hybrid control system: two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature, so there is less to go wrong and repairs are cheap. Any staff member can run it with no training. The Washtech control families are explained in our Washtech controls guide.

Warranty and support

The Washtech XP is covered by 2 years on site parts and labour from Moffat Australia, with a national service network and spare parts stocked locally. Full details on our warranty page.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes the Washtech XP?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. Moffat distributes and services Washtech in Australia.

What is the difference between the Washtech XP and the Washtech M2?
Same 730mm footprint, 500mm rack, bench gap and rated 1,080 dishes an hour. The Washtech M2 is the professional step up: a touchscreen, EcoPower idle management, a soft start pump and an assured rinse with a break tank and rinse pump, so the rinse does not depend on your water supply. The XP keeps it simple with hybrid controls and rinses straight off the mains. The M2 is $1,600 more ex GST.

What is the difference between the Washtech XP and the Washtech XM?
They are the same price and run the same hybrid controls and 1.0HP wash pump. The XP takes the bigger 500mm rack and does up to 1,080 dishes an hour. The Washtech XM takes 450mm racks and does up to 840, but it is 75mm narrower, 50mm shallower and fits a 510mm bench gap. If you have the room, the XP.

What is the difference between the Washtech XP and the Washtech XL?
The Washtech XL is the high speed hybrid machine: 40, 60 or 90 second cycles, a 1.5HP pump and racks from 500mm up to 600mm, so it takes trays and sheet pans. It is 45mm wider and $2,400 more ex GST. If you run long, heavy services, the XL. For a normal cafe or restaurant, the XP.

Does the Washtech XP need an exhaust hood?
Sometimes not, which could save you thousands. For the full story go to Do commercial dishwashers need a hood or a condenser? Before you spend money on a hood or a condenser machine, call us on 0412 034948 for more information.

What are the hybrid controls on the Washtech XP?
Hybrid is Washtech's name for the X series control system: two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature. You pick a 1, 2 or 3 minute cycle, slide the rack in and pulling the hood down starts the cycle. There is nothing to program, and the parts are simple and cheap to replace. Our Washtech controls guide compares it with the touchscreen.

Can the XP run on single phase or three phase?
Both. It plugs into a standard 15A 240V outlet at 3.25kW, and can be set up for 25A single phase at 5.75kW or 15A three phase at 7.5kW. Three phase spreads the load so the circuit size per phase is smaller, which suits sites that already have it. Tell us before you order if you want it set up that way. The new supply is a job for your electrician.

What is the higher power mode?
It is the easy change to 25A or three phase. It lifts the rinse heating so the machine keeps up during long, busy runs, and helps a lot if you are running on cold water.

Does the Washtech XP need a hot water connection?
Hot water at 65°C is the ideal supply, through a 3/4 inch male connection at 200 to 350kPa. It will run on cold water, it just has to do more of the heating itself, so cycles take longer to reach the 82°C rinse.

What water flow does the Washtech XP need?
The rinse runs straight off your water supply. Washtech recommends 20 litres a minute, but in practice it works on a lot less. If flow is a problem on your site, a rinse booster pump can be added as an extra, or the Washtech M2 has a break tank and rinse pump built in.

Will the Washtech XP fit my bench?
The bench gap adjusts from 595mm to 640mm, which covers the two most common Australian gaps, and it needs a 710mm deep bench. It is 730mm wide and 1530mm high with the hood down, with 430mm clearance under the hood. For an inline install the front panels can be adjusted to 605mm. If you need the whole cabinet under 650mm wide, ask us, as Moffat makes a version for that.

What clearance does it need?
Allow 300mm at the front for service access. For corner installs the machine must face left for access to the controls, and any splashback return should be no higher than 150mm.

Does the Washtech XP have stainless steel wash arms?
A stainless steel arm kit is available as an upgrade, just let us know with your order.

Is the drain pump built in?
Yes. The drain pump is standard, not an extra. It drains through a 25mm flexi hose, so there is no gravity drain needed.

How many racks per hour does the Washtech XP wash?
The machine side of the job is 1, 2 or 3 minutes per rack. Real throughput depends on how quickly racks are loaded and unloaded, so the rated figure of up to 1,080 dishes an hour is the ceiling, not a guarantee.

What comes with the Washtech XP?
The machine, one 500mm dish rack (600 70028), one 500mm cup rack (600 70029), a cutlery container (C660503), and a quick connection kit with all hoses and the 15A plugset. Dual chemical pumps for detergent and rinse aid are fitted.

How big is the Washtech XP packed?
Packed it is 760mm wide, 820mm deep and 1460mm high, and weighs 125kg. Check your doorways and any stairs before delivery day.

How much is delivery on the Washtech XP?
Delivery is typically $120 plus GST. Use the Freight Cost Guide button on this page for the exact price to your postcode, including whether a tailgate is needed.

Is the Washtech XP WaterMark approved?
Yes. It has WaterMark approved backflow prevention, using an atmospheric vacuum breaker.

Can I get a scratch and dent Washtech XP?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display units at a reduced price. Ask if you want one and we will check availability.
