Specifications from the Moffat Australia Washtech XM spec sheet (PDF download).

The Washtech XM is a slimline pass through dishwasher for kitchens where a full size pass through will not fit. It is 655mm wide, fits a 510mm bench gap and a 600 to 700mm deep bench, takes 450mm x 450mm racks and washes up to 840 dishes or 960 glasses an hour on 1, 2 or 3 minute cycles. It uses 2.2 litres of water per cycle, rinses at 82°C and plugs into a standard 15A 240V outlet, with no exhaust hood required on 15A in a well ventilated space. $5,980 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.

Best for: Cafes, bars, restaurants and aged care kitchens with a narrow dish run that want pass through speed without the footprint of a full size machine.

Does a pass through dishwasher need an exhaust hood?

Sometimes not, which could save you thousands. For the full story go to Do commercial dishwashers need a hood or a condenser? Before you spend money on a hood or a condenser machine, call us on 0412 034948 for more information.

Washtech XM overview

The XM is the compact pass through in the Washtech range. It runs the same hybrid controls and 1.0HP wash pump as the Washtech XP, at the same price, but on a 450mm rack instead of 500mm, which takes 75mm off the width and lets it fit a 510mm bench gap. If you need the bigger rack and have the room, the XP. If you need a touchscreen and an assured rinse, the Washtech M2. If you want the steam captured at the machine, the Washtech M1C is the same size machine with a heat recovery unit on top.

How the Washtech XM cleans

A 1.0HP wash pump drives upper and lower wash and rinse arms through a heavy-duty stainless steel wash manifold. Slide the rack in, pull the hood down and the cycle starts on its own. The final rinse is at 82°C, and stainless steel scrap trays with a wash and drain filter catch the scraps. The drain pump empties the machine at the end of service with no manual draining.

Which Washtech pass through do I need?

The XM and M1C take 450mm racks and suit 600 to 700mm benches. The XP and M2 take 500mm racks and need a 710mm deep bench. The M1C is the only one here with a heat recovery unit.

Simple to use

Pick a 1, 2 or 3 minute cycle, slide the rack in and pull the hood down. AutoStart does the rest. Behind the selector is Washtech's hybrid control system: two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature, so there is less to go wrong and repairs are cheap. Any staff member can run it with no training. The Washtech control families are explained in our Washtech controls guide.

Warranty and support

The Washtech XM is covered by 2 years on site parts and labour from Moffat Australia, with a national service network and spare parts stocked locally. Full details on our warranty page.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes the Washtech XM?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. Moffat distributes and services Washtech in Australia.

What is the difference between the Washtech XM and the Washtech XP?
They are the same price and run the same hybrid controls and 1.0HP wash pump. The XP takes the bigger 500mm x 500mm rack and is rated at up to 1,080 dishes an hour. The XM takes 450mm x 450mm racks and does up to 840 dishes an hour, but it is 75mm narrower (655mm against 730mm), 50mm shallower, and fits a 510mm bench gap against 595 to 640mm for the XP. If you have the room, the XP. If space is tight, the XM.

What is the difference between the Washtech XM and the Washtech M1C?
The M1C is the same size machine with a heat recovery unit on top. It runs on cold water and 415V three phase, has a touchscreen and a break tank with rinse pump, and Moffat sells it for installs without an extraction canopy in many situations. The XM runs on hot water from a 15A plug and has no condenser. The M1C is $4,600 more ex GST.

Does the Washtech XM need an exhaust hood?
Sometimes not, which could save you thousands. For the full story go to Do commercial dishwashers need a hood or a condenser? Before you spend money on a hood or a condenser machine, call us on 0412 034948 for more information.

What are the hybrid controls on the Washtech XM?
Hybrid is Washtech's name for the X series control system: two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature. On the XM you pick a 1, 2 or 3 minute cycle on the selector and pulling the hood down starts the cycle. There is nothing to program, and the parts are simple and cheap to replace. Our Washtech controls guide compares it with the touchscreen.

What rack size does the Washtech XM use?
450mm x 450mm racks. That smaller rack is what lets the XM fit a 510mm bench gap and a 600 to 700mm deep bench.

Will the Washtech XM fit my bench?
It needs a 510mm bench gap and suits a bench depth of 600 to 700mm. It is 655mm wide, 660mm deep and 1530mm high with the hood down, with 430mm clearance under the hood. It can go in a corner or inline.

Does the Washtech XM need a hot water connection?
Hot water at 65°C is the ideal supply, through a 3/4 inch male connection at 200 to 350kPa. It will run on cold water, it just has to do more of the heating itself, so cycles take longer to reach the 82°C rinse.

What water flow does the Washtech XM need?
The rinse runs straight off your water supply. Washtech recommends 20 litres a minute, but in practice it works on a lot less. If flow is a problem on your site, a rinse pump kit can be added as an extra.

What power does the Washtech XM need?
It plugs into a standard 15A 240V outlet and draws up to 3.75kW. It can be set up for 25A single phase (5.75kW) or 15A three phase (9kW) for faster rinse recovery, especially on cold water. Tell us before you order if you want it set up that way. The new supply is a job for your electrician.

Does the Washtech XM have stainless steel wash arms?
It comes with composite wash and rinse arms. Stainless steel arms are available as an upgrade kit if you want them, just let us know with your order.

Is the drain pump built in?
Yes. The drain pump is standard, not an extra. It drains through a 25mm flexi hose, so there is no gravity drain needed.

How many racks per hour does the Washtech XM wash?
The machine side of the job is 1, 2 or 3 minutes per rack. Real throughput depends on how quickly racks are loaded and unloaded, so the rated figure of up to 840 dishes or 960 glasses an hour is the ceiling, not a guarantee. A pass through is quicker to work than an undercounter, because you slide the rack in, pull the hood down and it starts.

Are detergent and rinse aid pumps included?
Yes. Dual chemical pumps are fitted as standard.

What comes with the Washtech XM?
The machine, one 450mm dish rack (600 70081), one 450mm cup rack (600 70080), a cutlery container (C660503), and a quick connection kit with all hoses and the 15A plugset.

How big is the Washtech XM packed?
Packed it is 685mm wide, 710mm deep and 1450mm high, and weighs 94kg. Check your doorways and any stairs before delivery day.

How much is delivery on the Washtech XM?
Delivery is typically $120 plus GST. Use the Freight Cost Guide button on this page for the exact price to your postcode, including whether a tailgate is needed.

Is the Washtech XM WaterMark approved?
Yes. It has WaterMark approved backflow prevention, using an atmospheric vacuum breaker.

Can I get a scratch and dent Washtech XM?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display units at a reduced price. Ask if you want one and we will check availability.
