The Washtech M2 is a professional commercial pass through dishwasher. 500mm x 500mm rack, up to 1,080 plates per hour on 60, 120 or 180 second cycles, 2.4 litres of water per cycle, touchscreen controls with Heads Up Display, a 1HP soft start wash pump and an assured 82°C rinse from its own break tank and booster pump. It fits a 595mm or 640mm bench gap and runs on a 15A 240V plug. $7,590 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.

Best for: Medium to large restaurants, clubs, hotels and aged care kitchens that need professional controls and a guaranteed rinse, without stepping up to a full high capacity machine.

Washtech M2 overview

The M2 is the professional step up from the Washtech XP. It shares the XP's footprint, rack size, throughput and 15A plug, and adds Washtech's professional touchscreen controls with a Heads Up Display, EcoPower idle management, a soft start wash pump, and the thing that matters most in a busy kitchen: an assured rinse. The M2 holds its rinse water in a dedicated break tank and pushes it through a 0.25HP booster pump, so the 82°C rinse arrives at full pressure every cycle no matter how weak the incoming supply is. On a site with slow water, low pressure or a long pipe run, that is the difference between a proper sanitising rinse and a cycle that stalls waiting for water. It comes with a 15A lead and runs fully on single phase. If three phase is available on site, connecting it unlocks a second rinse element and moves the wash heating onto its own phase, which roughly doubles the rinse heating for faster recovery on a busy line. For a kitchen without an exhaust hood, the Washtech M2C is the same machine with a heat condenser on top.

How the Washtech M2 cleans

Separated stainless steel wash and rinse arms, top and bottom, cover the 500mm rack from both sides. The 1HP soft start wash pump ramps up rather than hitting the load at full power, so crockery stays where it was racked. The rinse is 82°C assured: the break tank and booster pump deliver it at full pressure and the cycle will not finish until the rinse water has reached sanitising temperature. Two-stage stainless steel wash and drain filtration keeps the wash water clean, and the hands-free drain pump and sump empty the machine without pulling a plug. Auto-drain and self-clean run from the touchscreen.

Touchscreen controls and Heads Up Display

The M2 uses Washtech's professional touchscreen: cycle selection, chemical dosing, auto-drain and self-clean on one screen, with fault alerts in plain words. The Heads Up Display shows the operator what the machine is doing from across the room. The controller comes with a bracket and can be mounted either side of the machine, under the bench or on the wall, and it can sit metres away from the machine if the layout calls for it, which is useful in a corner install or where the hood is boxed in. What is the difference between the Washtech M2 and the Washtech XP?
Same footprint, same 500mm rack, same 1,080 plates per hour, same 15A plug. The M2 adds the touchscreen with Heads Up Display, EcoPower idle management, a soft start wash pump, and the assured rinse: a break tank and booster pump that hold a full pressure 82°C rinse regardless of mains supply. The XP rinses on mains pressure and is $1,610 less ex GST. On a site with good water pressure and simple needs, the XP does the job. On a site with weak water, or a kitchen that wants diagnostics on screen, the M2.

What is the difference between the Washtech M2 and the Washtech M2C?
The M2C is the M2 with a heat recovery unit on top. It captures the steam from the wash chamber, condenses it and uses the heat to warm the incoming water, so it needs no exhaust hood and runs on a cold water feed. It is three phase only and stands 2025mm high against the M2's 1530mm. If you have a hood or a well ventilated space, the M2 on 15A does not need one either and is $4,090 less ex GST.

What is an assured rinse?
The M2 does not rinse straight off your mains supply. It fills a dedicated break tank, heats that water to 82°C, and a 0.25HP booster pump delivers it to the rinse arms at full pressure. That means the rinse is the same on every cycle whether your water pressure is 100kPa or 500kPa, and it is why the M2 is the right machine for sites with slow or low pressure water where a mains rinse machine struggles.

Does the Washtech M2 need an exhaust hood?
Not on the supplied 15A single phase plug. On 15A the M2 meets the ventilation requirements without an exhaust hood in a well ventilated space. If you connect it to three phase, check the hood requirement with your local authority, because the higher power rating can change it.

Does the Washtech M2 need three-phase power?
No. It comes with a 15A single phase lead and runs fully on single phase at 3.75kW. Three phase is optional.

What does connecting the Washtech M2 to three phase do?
Machines like the M2 and XP come with a 15A lead, but there is more heating in them than a 15A circuit can feed. On three phase, a second rinse element is connected, doubling the rinse heating, and the link that ran the wash heating off the single 15A phase is removed so the wash heating gets its own phase. The M2 goes from 3.75kW on the plug to 9kW on three phase. Same machine, faster rinse recovery between cycles, which is what you want on a busy line. It is done at installation by your electrician.

What is EcoPower?
EcoPower stops all heating once the machine senses it has been idle, typically set at 10 minutes, and restarts on the next cycle. It saves power through quiet periods without anyone having to remember to switch the machine off.

Can the touchscreen be mounted away from the machine?
Yes. The controller comes with a bracket that lets it mount on either side of the machine, under the bench or on the wall, and it can be installed metres away from the machine if the layout needs it.

What is soft start?
Soft start powers the wash pump up gradually instead of hitting full power the instant the cycle begins. Most machines switch the pump straight on at full power, which sends a surge of water through the chamber at the start of every cycle. Soft start lets the 1HP pump pressurise slowly, so crockery and glassware stay where they were racked and the pump lasts longer.

What bench gap does the Washtech M2 fit?
The two most common Australian bench gaps, 595mm and 640mm. Allow 300mm clearance at the front for service access, and a splashback return no higher than 150mm.

Can the Washtech M2 go in a corner?
Yes. Install it so racks are pushed into the back of the machine, with the 300mm front clearance and the 150mm splashback limit, and mount the touchscreen wherever it is easiest to reach.

What rack size does the Washtech M2 use?
The international standard 500mm x 500mm rack, the same as the Washtech XU, XD and UD, so racks can be shared between the pass through and the undercounters.

Does the Washtech M2 need a hot water connection?
Hot water at 65°C is the ideal supply, through a 3/4 inch male connection at 100 to 500kPa and 10 litres per minute. Because the rinse comes from the break tank, the M2 copes with low inlet temperature, flow or pressure better than a mains rinse machine. Drain is a 25mm flexi hose from the built-in drain pump.

How many racks per hour does the Washtech M2 wash?
The machine side of the job is 60, 120 or 180 seconds per rack depending on the cycle. Real throughput depends on how quickly racks are loaded and unloaded between cycles, so the rated figure of up to 1,080 plates per hour is the ceiling, not a guarantee.

Are detergent and rinse aid pumps included?
Yes. Dual chemical pumps are fitted as standard, and the dosing for both is adjusted from the touchscreen.

What comes with the Washtech M2?
The machine, one 500mm dish rack, one 500mm cup rack, a cutlery container, and a quick connection kit with all hoses and the 15A plugset.

Can I get a scratch and dent Washtech M2?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display units at a reduced price. Ask if you want one and we will check availability.
