Specifications from the Moffat Australia Washtech M2C spec sheet (PDF download).

The Washtech M2C is a heat condensing pass through dishwasher. The C stands for condenser: a SEED certified heat recovery unit on top captures the steam from every cycle, so it does not need an external extraction canopy. It is the Washtech M2 with heat recovery, washing up to 1,080 plates an hour on 60, 120 or 180 second cycles, with 500mm racks, touchscreen controls with Heads Up Display, a 1HP soft start wash pump and an assured 82°C rinse. It runs on cold water at 2.4 litres per cycle and 415V three phase. $11,680 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.

Best for: Kitchens where running exhaust hood ducting to a dishwasher is impractical or too expensive. Built for busy cafes, bars, large restaurants and bakeries that want professional touchscreen controls and an assured rinse.

Washtech M2C overview

The M2C takes the Washtech M2 and adds a heat recovery unit on top. Cold water runs through it on the way into the machine, the steam from each cycle condenses on it, and the incoming water gets preheated at the same time. That keeps the steam out of the room and the room cooler for staff. Everything else is the M2: the touchscreen with Heads Up Display, the 1HP soft start pump, 500mm racks and a 595 to 640mm bench gap. If you want heat recovery with simple controls for less, the Washtech XPC is $1,700 less. For a 450mm rack, the Washtech M1C. For 600mm racks and more speed, the Washtech ALC.

How the Washtech M2C cleans

A 1.0HP soft start wash pump drives independent stainless steel wash arms through a heavy-duty stainless steel manifold. Slide the rack in, pull the hood down and AutoStart runs the cycle. The rinse is 82°C assured: dual boilers heat the rinse water and a rinse pump delivers it, and the cycle will not finish until the rinse has reached sanitising temperature. Two-stage stainless steel wash and drain filtration catches the scraps, and the sump and drain pump empty the machine.

Which Washtech heat recovery pass through do I need?

All four have the heat recovery unit and run on cold water and 415V three phase. The differences are rack size, controls, the rinse and the bench gap.

Touchscreen controls and Heads Up Display

Cycle selection, chemical dosing, auto-drain and self-clean on one screen, with faults shown on screen. The Heads Up Display shows what the machine is doing from across the room, and the bracket mounts it to either side, under the bench or on the wall. EcoPower stops the heating if the machine sits idle. The Washtech control families are explained in our Washtech controls guide.

Warranty and support

Frequently asked questions

Who makes the Washtech M2C?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. Moffat distributes and services Washtech in Australia.

Does the M2C need an exhaust hood?
No. The C in M2C stands for condenser. The heat recovery unit captures the steam from every cycle at the machine, so it does not need an external extraction canopy, and the room stays cooler for staff. Moffat has the SEED certification for it on request.

What is the difference between the M2 and the M2C?
The M2C is based on the Washtech M2 with a heat recovery unit added on top. Same touchscreen, 1HP soft start pump, 500mm racks and bench gap, and up to 1,080 plates an hour. The M2C connects to cold water, runs on three phase, has an assured rinse from dual boilers and a rinse pump, and stands 2025mm high against 1530mm. It is usually chosen if an exhaust hood installation is impractical or too expensive. It is $4,100 more ex GST, so if your kitchen is well ventilated, read Do commercial dishwashers need a hood or a condenser? first, as the M2 on its 15A plug may not need a hood either.

What is the difference between the Washtech M2C and the XPC?
Both are 500mm rack pass throughs with a heat recovery unit. The Washtech XPC keeps the simple hybrid controls of the XP and is $1,700 less ex GST. The M2C adds the touchscreen with Heads Up Display, a soft start pump, EcoPower and an assured rinse from dual boilers and a rinse pump.

Why does the M2C run on cold water and three phase?
Most dishwashers connect to hot water. The M2C connects to cold water, under 25°C, which runs through the condenser to absorb the wash steam and preheat the incoming water. Because it starts from cold and has to reach wash and rinse temperature, it needs the extra heating capacity of 415V three phase power, 11.25kW.

Can the Washtech M2C run on single phase power?
Yes. It does not use any three phase motors, so single phase is possible. It needs a technician to modify it, runs on a 50A circuit, and takes longer to recover between wash cycles than the standard three phase setup.

What does SEED certification mean?
SEED stands for Sustainable by Engineering, Environment by Design. Moffat can supply the full SEED details and certification for the M2C on request, which is the paperwork a certifier or council will ask for.

What is an assured rinse?
The M2C does not rinse straight off your water supply. Dual boilers heat the rinse water to 82°C and a rinse pump delivers it to the rinse arms, and the cycle will not finish until the rinse has reached sanitising temperature, so the rinse is the same every cycle.

What bench gap does it fit?
Either a 595mm or 640mm bench gap, the two most common sizes in Australian commercial kitchens, and it installs inline or in a corner. It is 2025mm high including the heat recovery unit, so check your ceiling height.

What clearance does it need?
Allow 300mm at the front for service access. For corner installs, the machine should sit so racks push into the back, and any splashback return should be no higher than 150mm. The touchscreen bracket mounts to either side, under the bench or on the wall.

Does it dispense chemicals?
Yes, it has built in detergent and rinse aid pumps, adjusted via the touchscreen. At the back of the machine there are two coiled tubes, both weighted and fitted with a filter, the clear one is detergent and the blue one is rinse aid.

What water supply does the Washtech M2C need?
Cold water under 25°C through a 3/4 inch male connection, at 100 to 500kPa and 10 litres a minute.

Is the drain pump built in?
Yes. The sump and drain pump are standard. It drains through a 25mm flexi hose, so there is no gravity drain needed.

How many racks per hour does the Washtech M2C wash?
The machine side of the job is 60, 120 or 180 seconds per rack. Real throughput depends on how quickly racks are loaded and unloaded, so the rated figure of up to 1,080 plates an hour is the ceiling, not a guarantee.

What comes with the Washtech M2C?
The machine, one 500mm dish rack (600 70028), one 500mm cup rack (600 70029), a cutlery container (C660503), and a plumbing connection kit with the water and chemical hoses.

How big is the Washtech M2C packed?
Packed it is 760mm wide, 820mm deep and 2015mm high, and weighs 142kg. Check your doorways, ceiling heights and any stairs before delivery day.

How much is delivery on the Washtech M2C?
Delivery is typically $120 plus GST. Use the Freight Cost Guide button on this page for the exact price to your postcode, including whether a tailgate is needed.

Is the Washtech M2C WaterMark approved?
Yes. It has WaterMark approved backflow prevention, using an atmospheric vacuum breaker.

Can I get a scratch and dent Washtech M2C?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display units at a reduced price. Ask if you want one and we will check availability.
