The Bestaqua BA14-DW14 is a compact reverse osmosis system for polish free glasswashing. It makes up to 120 litres of RO water an hour into a 14 litre tank, with a pre-filter for sediment and chlorine, a built-in diaphragm pump, a cold water connection and app monitoring. The RO unit, pre-filter and tank all come in the kit. It plugs into a standard 10A 240V power point. $2,980 ex GST. Made by BWT in Europe, supplied in Australia by Moffat for the Washtech polish free range.
Best for: Bars, pubs and restaurants running a Washtech GM-R, GL, UD-R or UL that want spot free glasses straight from the rack with no hand polishing.
Bestaqua BA14-DW14 overview
Polish free works by rinsing with pure water, so there are no impurities left on the glass to dry into spots. The BA14-DW14 makes that water. It is the RO system Moffat supplies with the Washtech polish free machines, the Washtech GM-R, Washtech GL, Washtech UD-R and Washtech UL, and it also suits Blue Seal Sapien, Convotherm, Scotsman, Turbofan and Turbofan Combi equipment. At 144mm wide it tucks in beside the glasswasher under the bar, and it saves the labour of polishing every glass by hand.
How the BA14-DW14 works
Cold mains water goes through the pre-filter first, which takes out sediment and chlorine. The RO membrane then removes the dissolved solids, including salt and hardness ions. The pure water is stored in the 14 litre tank, and the built-in diaphragm pump supplies it to the glasswasher at the pressure it needs. The BWT app shows the key parameters, and the membrane is easy to change out.
Running costs and servicing
The RO membrane is a yearly change and the pre-filter goes every 6 to 12 months, depending on your water and how much the machine runs. Against that, nobody is standing at the bar polishing glasses, and the glasses that come out of the machine go straight on the shelf.
Warranty and support
2 years parts and labour, backed by Moffat Australia nationwide. Full details on our warranty page.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Bestaqua BA14-DW14 do?
It takes cold mains water and runs it through a pre-filter and a reverse osmosis membrane, removing sediment, chlorine and the dissolved solids, including salt and hardness, that leave spots and streaks on glasses. The pure water feeds the rinse on a polish free glasswasher, so glasses come out ready for the shelf with no hand polishing.
Who makes the Bestaqua BA14-DW14?
BWT, in Europe. Bestaqua is BWT's range name, and BWT says it is Europe's largest water treatment company. In Australia it is supplied by Moffat with the Washtech polish free range.
Which machines does the BA14-DW14 suit?
The Washtech polish free range: the Washtech GM-R, Washtech GL, Washtech UD-R and Washtech UL, and the black Washtech GL-B and Washtech UL-B. It also suits Blue Seal Sapien, Convotherm, Scotsman, Turbofan and Turbofan Combi equipment.
What comes with the BA14-DW14?
The RO unit, the pre-filter and the 14 litre storage tank. All three come in the kit, so there is nothing else to buy to get it running.
Why does it need a cold water connection?
Reverse osmosis membranes only work on cold water, so the BA14-DW14 is cold connection only. The Washtech polish free machines are fed cold and carry extra heating to bring the rinse up to 82°C.
How much water does it make?
Up to 120 litres an hour, into a 14 litre tank that covers the rush between cycles.
What water pressure and flow does it need?
Inlet pressure between 200 and 600kPa, and at least 5 litres a minute of flow. If your mains pressure runs higher than 600kPa, fit a pressure limiting valve ahead of it. Your plumber will check this on install.
Does it need a separate pump?
No. A 240V brush motor and diaphragm pump are built in, and provide the water pressure the machine needs.
What power does it need?
It plugs into a standard 10A 240V power point. The 10A is the plug rating, the unit itself draws far less than that.
How do I keep an eye on it?
The BA14-DW14 is app driven, so you can monitor the key parameters from your phone with the BWT Water + More app on Android or iOS.
How often does it need servicing?
BWT recommends changing the RO membrane every 12 months and the pre-filter every 6 to 12 months, depending on your water and how hard the machine works. Membrane changeout is quick and easy.
Where does it go?
It is 144mm wide, 245mm deep and 507mm high, and weighs 13kg, so it fits beside the glasswasher under most bars. Leave room for the 14 litre tank and the pre-filter as well. It needs a cold water supply and a 10A power point.
Do I need an RO system if I have a polish free glasswasher?
Yes, for polish free results. The polish free machines handle RO water, they do not make it. Without an RO system they run like a standard machine on ordinary water.
What warranty does the BA14-DW14 have?
2 years parts and labour, backed by Moffat.
How much is delivery on the BA14-DW14?
Delivery is typically $120 plus GST. Use the Freight Cost Guide button on this page for the exact price to your postcode. If you order it with a polish free glasswasher, ask us and we will quote them together.
