Washtech XD overview

The XD is the newest 500mm rack machine in the Washtech undercounter range. It shares the 570mm width and 840mm height of the Washtech XU and Washtech UD, but is 50mm deeper to give a taller 390mm chamber, the tallest of the four. It uses a Smartpower mini solid detergent dispenser with concentrated tablets instead of liquid chemical pumps, so there is no liquid detergent to store or spill. Controls are the same simple push buttons as the XU and the compact Washtech XV, run by Washtech's hybrid control system.

How the Washtech XD cleans

A 0.5HP wash pump drives the wash through the 500mm chamber on a one or two minute cycle. The rinse is 82°C assured, meaning the machine will not finish the cycle until the rinse water has reached sanitising temperature. Stainless steel wash and drain filters catch scraps, and the hands-free drain pump empties the machine without pulling a plug.

Which Washtech undercounter dishwasher do I need?

The XV, XU, XD and UD are all single phase 240V 15 amp machines using 2.2 litres per cycle with an 82°C rinse. The differences are rack size, chamber height, throughput, controls and detergent.

Simple to use

Push button controls, one minute or two minute cycle, nothing to program. Behind the buttons is Washtech's hybrid control system: two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature. Who makes the Washtech XD?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. What is the difference between the Washtech XD and the Washtech XU?
Both use the 500mm rack, run on the same push button controls and are rated at up to 1,080 plates per hour. The XD has a taller 390mm wash chamber built for GN 1/1 pans, is 50mm deeper, and uses a Smartpower mini solid detergent dispenser with concentrated tablets. The XU has a 350mm chamber and dual liquid chemical pumps. Both weigh 54kg and plug into a 15A outlet.

What is the difference between the Washtech XD and the Washtech UD?
The UD is the step up in controls: a touchscreen with digital diagnostics and fault alerts, a third 180 second cycle, and liquid chemical pumps. The XD keeps it simple with push buttons and tablets, has a taller chamber (390mm against 370mm) and costs $2,200 less ex GST.

Will the Washtech XD wash GN 1/1 pans?
Yes. The 500 x 560 x 390mm chamber and the open ended 500mm dish and tray rack are built for it. Washtech rates the XD at up to 240 GN pans per hour.

What are the hybrid controls on the Washtech XD?
Hybrid is Washtech's name for the X series control system. You get two push buttons on the front for a 1 or 2 minute cycle, and behind them two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature. What detergent does the Washtech XD use?
Concentrated solid tablets in the Smartpower mini dispenser. No liquid detergent drums, no chemical pumps to prime, no spills.

What rack size does the Washtech XD use?
The international standard 500mm x 500mm rack, the same as the Washtech XU and UD. Racks can be shared between machines if needed.

Does the Washtech XD need a hot water connection?
Hot water at 65°C is the ideal supply, through a 3/4 inch male connection at 200 to 500kPa. The XD will run on cold water, it just has to do more of the heating itself, so cycles take longer to reach the 82°C rinse.

What water flow does the Washtech XD need?
The rinse runs straight off your water supply. Washtech recommends 20 litres a minute, but in practice it works on a lot less. If flow is a real problem on your site, the Washtech UD-R and Washtech UL have a break tank and rinse pump that assure the rinse regardless of flow.

Is the drain pump built in?
Yes. The drain pump is standard, not an extra. It drains through a 25mm flexi hose, so there is no plug to pull and no gravity drain needed.

How many racks per hour does the Washtech XD wash?
The machine side of the job is 60 or 120 seconds per rack. Real throughput depends on how quickly racks are loaded and unloaded between cycles, so the rated figure of up to 1,080 dishes per hour is the ceiling, not a guarantee.

Does the Washtech XD need three-phase power?
No. It plugs into a standard 15A 240V single phase outlet, so most cafe and restaurant installations need no special electrical work.

Will the Washtech XD fit under a standard bench?
Yes. At 840mm high it fits under a standard 900mm bench. Allow for the 650mm depth, 50mm more than the XU and UD.

What comes with the Washtech XD?
The machine, one 500mm open ended dish and tray rack (600 70037), one 500mm cup rack (600 70029), a cutlery container (C660503), and a quick connection kit with all hoses and the 15A plugset.

How big is the Washtech XD packed?
