Specifications from the Moffat Australia Washtech PW1 spec sheet (PDF download).
The Washtech PW1 is a front loading upright potwasher for kitchens that need a standalone machine for pots, pans, bins, baking trays and bowls. The chamber is 720mm wide, 600mm deep and 750mm high, and the adjustable rail and tine bar holds up to 8 trays from 18 inch bakery trays to 1/1 GN. It runs 2, 4 and 6 minute cycles with a 2.0HP wash pump and an assured 82°C rinse, uses 2.2 litres of water per cycle and runs on 415V three phase. $13,980 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.
Best for: Commercial kitchens, bakeries, aged care and catering operations that need a dedicated pot station in an upright machine, without dish benches or the footprint of a wide body warewasher.
Washtech PW1 overview
The PW1 loads from the front like a cupboard, so it stands on its own in the pot wash area and does not need a bench run either side. The 750mm high chamber takes the tall gear that will not go under a pass through hood, and the tine bar stands trays up so a full load of bakery trays or GN pans goes through in one cycle. The 2.0HP pump and 6 minute cycle handle baked-on soil, and the booster pump assures the rinse. If you want pots and dishes through an inline dish run, the Washtech AL8 is the pass through version. If you cannot fit a canopy, the Washtech PW1C has a heat recovery unit on top.
How the Washtech PW1 cleans
A 2.0HP wash pump drives independent stainless steel wash and rinse arms through a heavy-duty stainless steel manifold, top and bottom. Choose 2 minutes for light loads, or 4 or 6 minutes for heavily soiled pots and trays. The booster pump delivers the 82°C rinse, two-stage stainless steel wash and drain filtration keeps the wash water clean, and the sump and drain pump empty the machine at the end of service.
Which Washtech potwasher do I need?
The AL8 is the pass through warewasher. The PW1 and PW1C are front loading uprights.

Simple to use
Load the rack or trays, pick a cycle and start it. The PW1 uses Washtech's hybrid controls, the same simple PCB boards as the X series, so any staff member can run it and repairs are cheap. The Washtech control families are explained in our Washtech controls guide.
Warranty and support
The Washtech PW1 is covered by 2 years on site parts and labour from Moffat Australia, with a national service network and spare parts stocked locally. Full details on our warranty page.
Frequently asked questions
Who makes the Washtech PW1?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. Moffat distributes and services Washtech in Australia.
What size items can the PW1 wash?
Anything that fits the 720mm wide, 600mm deep and 750mm high chamber. That covers pots, pans, bins, baking trays, mixing bowls and standard 500mm racks. The adjustable rail and tine bar holds up to 8 trays, from 18 inch bakery trays to 1/1 GN pans. If you have a particular pot or bowl in mind, send us its size and we will check it.
What is the difference between the Washtech PW1 and the AL8?
Both wash pots as well as dishes. The Washtech AL8 is a pass through: racks slide in from the bench on one side and out the other, with a 650mm opening. The PW1 is a front loading upright: you load it from the front like a cupboard, it stands on its own without dish benches either side, and it has a taller 750mm chamber. If you have an inline dish run, the AL8. If you need a standalone pot station, the PW1.
Does the Washtech PW1 need an exhaust hood?
Plan for a canopy over it. If one is not an option, the Washtech PW1C is the condenser version: the heat recovery unit captures the steam at the machine, so it needs no canopy. Call us on 0412 034948 before you decide.
What power does the PW1 require?
415V three phase, hardwired, with no lead or plug supplied. It comes set up at 15A per phase, 10.5kW, and can be changed to 25A per phase, 18kW, for faster recovery. Tell us before you order which way you want it. This is not a single phase machine. Your electrician makes the connection.
What is an assured rinse?
The PW1 does not rinse straight off your mains supply. A booster pump delivers the 82°C rinse at a consistent pressure every cycle, so the rinse is the same on every load.
What are the hybrid controls on the Washtech PW1?
Hybrid is Washtech's name for the X series control system: two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature. Pick a 2, 4 or 6 minute cycle and start it. There is nothing to program, and the parts are simple and cheap to replace. Our Washtech controls guide explains it.
What water supply does the Washtech PW1 need?
Hot water at 50 to 65°C through a 3/4 inch male connection, at 100 to 500kPa and 10 litres a minute. It uses 2.2 litres per cycle.
How much room does the PW1 need?
It is 835mm wide, 780mm deep and 1790mm high, so it needs a 780mm deep space. The door opens to give 750mm clearance into the chamber. Leave room in front to load it.
Is the drain pump built in?
Yes. The sump and drain pump are standard. It drains through a 25mm flexi hose, so there is no gravity drain needed.
Are detergent and rinse aid pumps included?
Yes. Dual chemical pumps are fitted as standard.
What comes with the Washtech PW1?
The machine, two 500mm dish racks (600 70028), one 500mm cup rack (600 70029), a cutlery container (C660503), and a connection kit with the water, drain and chemical hoses. There is no lead or plug, as it is hardwired.
How big is the Washtech PW1 packed?
Packed it is 1000mm wide, 910mm deep and 1750mm high, and weighs 189kg. It is a big machine, so check your doorways and any stairs before delivery day.
How much is delivery on the Washtech PW1?
Delivery is typically $120 plus GST. Use the Freight Cost Guide button on this page for the exact price to your postcode, including whether a tailgate is needed.
Is the Washtech PW1 WaterMark approved?
Yes. It has WaterMark approved backflow prevention, using an atmospheric vacuum breaker.
Can I get a scratch and dent Washtech PW1?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display units at a reduced price. Ask if you want one and we will check availability.
