Specifications from the Moffat Australia Washtech PW2 spec sheet (PDF download).

The Washtech PW2 is a wide body front loading warewasher and potwasher for kitchens that wash bins, crates, large bowls, stockpots and trays in volume. The 1100mm wide, 650mm deep and 750mm high chamber takes two 500mm racks side by side, and the upper rail holds up to 20 baking or GN trays. It runs 2, 4 and 6 minute cycles with twin 2.0HP wash pumps, hybrid controls and an assured 82°C rinse, uses 4.0 litres of hot water per cycle and runs on 415V three phase. $20,480 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.

Best for: Bakeries, production kitchens, supermarkets, hospitals, aged care and catering operations that wash oversized items in volume and need a front loading machine.

Washtech PW2 overview

The PW2 is basically two Washtech PW1 wash systems in one wide body. Two 2.0HP pumps, the same pump as the PW1, drive the wash across a chamber 1100mm wide, so bins, crates and large bowls that will not fit a standard potwasher go straight in, or two racks go through side by side. It loads from the front through a split door, so it stands on its own without a bench run either side. If you cannot fit a canopy, the Washtech PW2C has a heat recovery unit on top.

How the Washtech PW2 cleans

Twin 2.0HP wash pumps drive robust stainless steel wash and rinse arms with precision stainless steel jets through a heavy-duty stainless steel manifold. Choose the 2 minute cycle for light loads, or 4 or 6 minutes for heavily soiled pots, bins and trays. The break tank and rinse pump deliver the 82°C rinse, and a double stainless steel filtration system with dual scrap trays and a separate wash inlet filter keeps the wash water clean.

Which Washtech front loader do I need?

The PW1 and PW1C are the single front loaders. The PW2 and PW2C are the wide body versions with twin pumps.

Simple to use

Load the racks, trays or bins, pick a cycle and start it. The PW2 uses Washtech's hybrid controls, the same simple PCB boards as the PW1 and the X series, so any staff member can run it and repairs are cheap. The Washtech control families are explained in our Washtech controls guide.

Warranty and support

The Washtech PW2 is covered by 2 years on site parts and labour from Moffat Australia, with a national service network and spare parts stocked locally. Full details on our warranty page.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes the Washtech PW2?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. Moffat distributes and services Washtech in Australia.

What is the difference between the Washtech PW2 and the PW1?
The PW2 is basically two PW1 wash systems in one wide body. The chamber is 1100mm wide against 720mm, it takes two 500mm racks side by side, and it has two 2.0HP wash pumps, the same pump as the PW1, instead of one. The Washtech PW1 is the single version, 835mm wide, for kitchens that do not have the room or the volume for the wide body.

Does the Washtech PW2 need an exhaust hood?
Plan for a canopy over it. If one is not an option, the Washtech PW2C is the condenser version: the heat recovery unit captures the steam at the machine, so it needs no canopy. Call us on 0412 034948 before you decide.

What is the difference between the Washtech PW2 and the PW3?
Both are wide body machines with twin 2.0HP pumps that take two 500mm racks at once. The PW2 is a front loader with a split door, so it stands on its own, and its 750mm high chamber takes taller items. The Washtech PW3 is a pass through with a lift up hood like the AL8, so it sits inline in a dish run with benches either side and racks slide straight through, with a 650mm high chamber.

What size items can the PW2 wash?
Anything that fits the 1100mm wide, 650mm deep and 750mm high chamber. That covers bins, crates, large mixing bowls, stockpots, mats, baking trays and two 500mm racks side by side. The upper rail with adjustable tines hangs ladles and whisks, or holds up to 20 baking or GN trays up to 40mm deep per cycle. If you have a particular item in mind, send us its size and we will check it.

How does the PW2 door work?
It is a counterbalanced, insulated split door. The bottom half hinges down and out to give you a shelf to load onto, and the top half lifts up out of the way. Open, the door gives 750mm clearance into the chamber, and the top reaches 2165 to 2225mm, so check your ceiling height.

What water supply does the Washtech PW2 need?
Hot water at 65°C through a 3/4 inch male connection, hose supplied, at 100 to 350kPa and 10 litres a minute. It uses 4.0 litres per cycle. It can run off cold water, but hot water gets it up to temperature faster.

What power does the PW2 require?
415V three phase, hardwired, with no lead or plug supplied. It runs at 30A per phase, 19.5kW, or can be set at 20A per phase, 12kW, if your switchboard cannot supply the full load. The 20A set up is slower to recover. Tell us before you order which way you want it. This is not a single phase machine. Your electrician makes the connection.

What is an assured rinse?
The PW2 does not rinse straight off your mains supply. A break tank and rinse pump deliver the 82°C rinse at a consistent pressure every cycle, so it copes with a low pressure water supply.

What are the hybrid controls on the Washtech PW2?
Hybrid is Washtech's name for the X series control system: simple PCB boards for cycle timing and temperature, with IP67 stainless switches. Pick a cycle and start it. There is nothing to program, and the parts are simple and cheap to replace. Our Washtech controls guide explains it.

How much room does the PW2 need?
It is 1235mm wide, 860mm deep and 1790mm high, with adjustable feet that add up to 60mm. The loading height is 850 to 910mm. Leave room in front for the bottom door to fold down.

What drain does the PW2 need?
A 1.5 inch BSP male waste connection to a drain line of 50mm minimum.

Are detergent and rinse aid pumps included?
Yes. Detergent and rinse aid pumps are fitted as standard, with injector lines supplied.

What comes with the Washtech PW2?
The machine, a 500mm dish rack (600 70028), a 500mm cup rack (600 70029), a 435mm cup cover (K0452), a cutlery basket (C660508), a potwasher rack grid (824 30001), a hanging rail with adjustable tines (824 10228), the water supply hose and the chemical injector lines. There is no lead or plug, as it is hardwired.

How big is the Washtech PW2 packed?
Packed it is 1310mm wide, 945mm deep and 1830mm high, and weighs 276kg. It is a big machine, so check your doorways, ceiling heights and any stairs before delivery day.

How much is delivery on the Washtech PW2?
Use the Freight Cost Guide button on this page for the exact price to your postcode, including whether a tailgate is needed. On a machine this size, call us and we will confirm access before it ships.

Is the Washtech PW2 WaterMark approved?
Yes. It has WaterMark approved backflow prevention, using an atmospheric vacuum breaker.

Can I get a scratch and dent Washtech PW2?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display units at a reduced price. Ask if you want one and we will check availability.
