Specifications from the Moffat Australia Washtech PW1C spec sheet (PDF download).

The Washtech PW1C is a front loading upright potwasher with an integrated heat recovery unit, so no exhaust canopy is required. The C stands for condenser. The chamber is 720mm wide, 600mm deep and 750mm high, and the adjustable rail and tine bar holds up to 8 trays from 18 inch bakery trays to 1/1 GN. It runs 2, 4 and 6 minute cycles with a 2.0HP wash pump, hybrid controls and an assured 82°C rinse, uses 2.4 litres of water per cycle and runs on 415V three phase. $20,980 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.

Best for: Commercial kitchens, bakeries, hospitals, aged care and catering operations that need a standalone pot station, where an exhaust canopy is difficult or expensive to install.

Washtech PW1C overview

The PW1C is the condenser version of the Washtech PW1. It keeps the 750mm high chamber, the 8 tray tine bar, the 2.0HP pump and the assured rinse, and adds a heat recovery unit on top that captures the steam from every cycle at the machine. That matters on a potwasher: 6 minute cycles on heavy pots and trays put a lot of steam into the room. It loads from the front like a cupboard, so it stands on its own and does not need a bench run either side. If you want pots and dishes through an inline dish run with heat recovery, the Washtech AL8C is the pass through version.

How the heat recovery unit works

The PW1C has two water feeds on separate solenoids. The fill solenoid fills the tank from hot water, so the wash is up to temperature quickly at start up. The rinse solenoid takes cold water, which runs through the heat recovery unit on its way in, the steam from each cycle condenses on it, and the incoming water is preheated at the same time. That keeps the steam out of the room and cuts the energy needed to heat the rinse. Moffat can supply the SEED certification on request.

How the Washtech PW1C cleans

A 2.0HP wash pump drives independent stainless steel wash and rinse arms through a heavy-duty stainless steel manifold, top and bottom. Choose 2 minutes for light loads, or 4 or 6 minutes for heavily soiled pots and trays. The booster pump delivers the 82°C rinse, two-stage stainless steel wash and drain filtration keeps the wash water clean, and the sump and drain pump empty the machine at the end of service.

Which Washtech potwasher do I need?

The PW1 and PW1C are front loading uprights. The AL8C is the pass through warewasher with heat recovery.

Simple to use

Load the rack or trays, pick a cycle and start it. The PW1C uses Washtech's hybrid controls, the same simple PCB boards as the PW1 and the X series, so any staff member can run it and repairs are cheap. The Washtech control families are explained in our Washtech controls guide.

Warranty and support

The Washtech PW1C is covered by 2 years on site parts and labour from Moffat Australia, with a national service network and spare parts stocked locally. Full details on our warranty page.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes the Washtech PW1C?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. Moffat distributes and services Washtech in Australia.

Does the PW1C need an exhaust canopy?
No. The C in PW1C stands for condenser. The integrated heat recovery unit captures the steam at the machine, so no canopy is required, and Moffat has the SEED certification for it on request.

What is the difference between the Washtech PW1C and the PW1?
Same 720 x 600 x 750mm chamber, 750mm door clearance, 8 tray tine bar, 2.0HP pump, assured rinse and hybrid controls. The PW1C adds the heat recovery unit on top, so it needs no canopy. It takes a cold water feed for the rinse as well as hot water for the fill, and stands 2075mm high against 1790mm. The Washtech PW1 needs a canopy over it and is $7,000 less ex GST.

What is the difference between the Washtech PW1C and the AL8C?
Both have heat recovery and wash pots as well as dishes. The Washtech AL8C is a pass through: racks slide in from the bench on one side and out the other, with a 650mm opening. The PW1C is a front loading upright: you load it from the front like a cupboard, it stands on its own without dish benches either side, and it has a taller 750mm chamber. If you have an inline dish run, the AL8C. If you need a standalone pot station, the PW1C.

What size items can the PW1C wash?
Anything that fits the 720mm wide, 600mm deep and 750mm high chamber. That covers pots, pans, bins, baking trays, mixing bowls and standard 500mm racks. The adjustable rail and tine bar holds up to 8 trays, from 18 inch bakery trays to 1/1 GN pans. If you have a particular pot or bowl in mind, send us its size and we will check it.

What water supply does the PW1C need?
Two connections, each on its own solenoid. A dedicated fill solenoid fills the tank from hot water at 65°C, which saves time getting the wash up to temperature at start up. A separate rinse solenoid takes cold water under 25°C through the heat recovery unit for the rinse. Both are 3/4 inch male with hoses supplied, at 100 to 500kPa and 10 litres a minute. It uses 2.4 litres per cycle.

How does the heat recovery unit work?
The cold water feed runs through the heat recovery unit on its way into the machine. The steam from each cycle condenses on it, which takes the steam out of the air and preheats the incoming water at the same time.

What does SEED certification mean?
SEED stands for Sustainable by Engineering, Environment by Design. Moffat can supply the full SEED details and certification for the PW1C on request, which is the paperwork a certifier or council will ask for.

What power does the PW1C require?
415V three phase, hardwired, with no lead or plug supplied. It runs at 15A per phase, 10.5kW, or 25A per phase, 18kW, for faster recovery. Tell us before you order which way you want it. This is not a single phase machine. Your electrician makes the connection.

What is an assured rinse?
The PW1C does not rinse straight off your mains supply. A booster pump delivers the 82°C rinse at a consistent pressure every cycle, so the rinse is the same on every load.

What are the hybrid controls on the Washtech PW1C?
Hybrid is Washtech's name for the X series control system: two simple PCB boards, one for cycle timing and one for temperature. Pick a 2, 4 or 6 minute cycle and start it. There is nothing to program, and the parts are simple and cheap to replace. Our Washtech controls guide explains it.

How much room does the PW1C need?
It is 835mm wide, 780mm deep and 2075mm high including the heat recovery unit, so check your ceiling height. The door opens to give 750mm clearance into the chamber. Leave room in front to load it.

Is the drain pump built in?
Yes. The sump and drain pump are standard. It drains through a 25mm flexi hose, so there is no gravity drain needed.

Are detergent and rinse aid pumps included?
Yes. Dual chemical pumps are fitted as standard.

What comes with the Washtech PW1C?
The machine, two 500mm dish racks (600 70028), one 500mm cup rack (600 70029), a cutlery container (C660503), and a connection kit with the water, drain and chemical hoses. There is no lead or plug, as it is hardwired.

How big is the Washtech PW1C packed?
Packed it is 1000mm wide, 910mm deep and 2090mm high, and weighs 209kg. It is a big machine, so check your doorways, ceiling heights and any stairs before delivery day.

How much is delivery on the Washtech PW1C?
Delivery is typically $120 plus GST. Use the Freight Cost Guide button on this page for the exact price to your postcode, including whether a tailgate is needed.

Is the Washtech PW1C WaterMark approved?
Yes. It has WaterMark approved backflow prevention, using an atmospheric vacuum breaker.

Can I get a scratch and dent Washtech PW1C?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display units at a reduced price. Ask if you want one and we will check availability.
