The Scotsman NB 948 is a slope front ice storage bin that holds up to 406kg of ice. It sits under a Scotsman modular ice maker head, which is sold separately, and sells for $2,980 ex GST. Scotsman ice storage bins are distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.

Best for: big pubs, clubs, function centres and hotels running a large modular head. It holds up to 406kg and is wide enough for the 1219mm MC heads.

NB 948 overview

The NB 948 is the biggest bin in the range. It is 1237mm wide and holds up to 406kg of ice, and it is the bin for the big MC 1448 and MC 1848 heads.

The slope front lets staff get to the ice without reaching over a high lip. The bin has a stainless steel exterior, a rotocast plastic hinged door, high density polyethylene insulation and rounded inside corners so it is easy to clean. The door gasket comes right off for cleaning, and there is a built in scoop holder.

Which ice makers fit the NB 948?

The NB 948 suits these Scotsman modular heads, from the Moffat price book. Some heads need a top cover so the head sits properly on the bin.

The CBT 48 EAMCD top cover is $390 ex GST. The CBT 48 FMCD top cover is $943 ex GST. Order the cover with the bin if your head needs one.

To stack a second head on top for more ice, use the KSC 400-800 stacking kit for the NW 457 and NW 608 ($649 ex GST) or the KSC 1000 stacking kit for the NW 1008 ($717 ex GST).

Which storage bin do I need?

All five are Scotsman slope front bins with a stainless steel exterior and hinged door. Pick on capacity and the space you have, then check the bin suits your head.

Does the NB 948 come with an ice maker?
No. The NB 948 is the storage bin only. It sits under a Scotsman modular ice maker head, which you buy separately. The table above shows which heads fit.

How much ice does the NB 948 hold?
Up to 406kg, based on the bin 90% full. On the AHRI industry rating, which is based on 80% full, it is 319kg. Plan on the lower figure if you want a safe margin.

Does the NB 948 need a top cover?
It depends on the head. the CBT 48 EAMCD ($390) is needed for MXG M 638 AS OX, NW 608 AS OX, NWH 608 AS OX, NW 1008 AS OX, NWH 1008 AS OX, NWL 1008 AS OX, NW 1408 AS OX, NWH 1408 AS OX, NWL 1408 AS OX; the CBT 48 FMCD ($943) is needed for MFN S 47 AS OX, MFN S 57 AS OX. The other heads in the table sit straight on the bin.

How tall is the NB 948 with an ice maker on top?
Add the height of the head to the bin's 1269mm. For example, the MXG M 638 AS OX is 1128mm high, so together they stand about 2397mm, plus any top cover. Check your ceiling height and leave room above the head for air and service.

How does the NB 948 drain?
It has a 20mm drain. The supplied drain hose runs to a floor waste or drain lower than the bin.

What comes with the NB 948?
The bin comes with an ice scoop, a water hose and a drain hose. Top covers and stacking kits are ordered separately if your head needs them.

Do you have scratch and dent NB 948 bins?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display stock at a lower price. It comes down to availability, so ask us if you want one.
