Specifications from the Moffat Australia Washtech CD240 spec sheet (PDF download).

The Washtech CD240 is a 4 stage rack conveyor dishwasher that washes up to 240 racks, or 4,320 plates, an hour. Racks feed through a 600mm pre-wash module with a 1.5HP pump, a 1200mm wash module with a 2.0HP pump, and a 600mm end section with a pre-rinse and the final rinse, so staff load and unload without stopping the machine. The final rinse only runs while a rack is under it and its water runs back through the tanks, so it uses about 180L of hot water an hour in total. It has hybrid controls and an auto-start that idles it between rushes, and runs on 415V three phase. $51,880 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.

Best for: Big hospitals, aged care, stadiums, convention centres and institutional kitchens that need the most racks an hour for the least water.

Washtech CD240 overview

The CD240 is the top of the Washtech conveyor range. It adds a 600mm end section with a pre-rinse to the CD180 layout, so racks go through a pre-wash, the main wash, a pre-rinse and a final rinse. The rinse water feeds the pre-rinse, the wash and the pre-wash in turn, which gets it to 240 racks an hour on 180L of water an hour, less than the Washtech CD120 and Washtech CD180 use.

Choose your direction: the CD240 comes left to right or right to left, at the same price. It is built that way at the factory and cannot be converted on site, so tell us which way your racks need to run and we will include it in your quote.

How the Washtech CD240 cleans

The conveyor pulls the rack through the 600mm pre-wash with its 1.5HP pump, then the 1200mm wash section with its 2.0HP pump and removable stainless steel wash arm cassettes, then the 600mm end section with a pre-rinse and the final rinse. The rack pushes an arm that turns on the final rinse, and the rinse stops once it has passed. If the rinse is not up to temperature, the conveyor pauses until it is. The rinse water goes into a small pre-rinse tank, then back into the wash, then back into the pre-wash, so the same water does three jobs before it drains.

Which Washtech conveyor do I need?

All three take 500mm racks on the same drive, wash module and hybrid controls, and the only fresh water is the final rinse. The difference is the stages in front of and behind the wash.

Heat recovery version

If you cannot fit a canopy, Washtech makes a heat recovery version of the CD240 that captures the steam at the machine and runs on cold water. It is priced on application, so call us on 0412 034948 and we will work it out for your site.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes the Washtech CD240?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. Moffat distributes and services Washtech in Australia.

How many racks an hour does the CD240 do?
Up to 240 racks an hour, which is 4,320 plates an hour in 500mm racks. Staff load at one end and unload at the other without stopping the machine, so it holds that rate through a busy service.

How does a rack conveyor dishwasher work?
The conveyor pulls each rack in and carries it through the pre-wash, wash, pre-rinse and final rinse and out the other end. As the rack moves into the rinse section it pushes an arm that turns the final rinse on, and once the rack has passed the arm drops back and the rinse stops, so it only rinses if there is a rack under it. If the rinse water is not up to temperature, the conveyor pauses until it is, so every rack gets a full temperature rinse. The drive has a safety clutch, and the auto-start idles the machine if no racks are going through.

How much water does the CD240 use?
About 180L an hour, less than the CD120 and CD180, even at 240 racks an hour. The only fresh water is the final rinse. The rinse water goes into a small pre-rinse tank, then back into the wash tank, then back into the pre-wash, so the same water does three jobs before it drains.

What is the difference between the CD120, CD180 and CD240?
They step up in stages and throughput. The Washtech CD120 is 2 stage, wash and final rinse, at 120 racks an hour. The Washtech CD180 adds a 600mm pre-wash for 180 racks an hour. The CD240 adds a 600mm pre-rinse section as well for 240 racks an hour, and uses less water than the other two. Pick the model to match your peak rack volume, and call us if you are between sizes.

Does the Washtech CD240 need an exhaust canopy?
Plan for a canopy over it. Washtech gives a typical minimum extraction of 250L/sec, but it varies by site, so your ventilation engineer sets the final figure. If a canopy is not an option, Washtech makes a heat recovery version of the CD240. Call us on 0412 034948 for the price and details before you decide.

What does the pre-wash stage do on the CD240?
The 600mm pre-wash module has its own 1.5HP pump and gives each rack a wash before it reaches the main wash, taking the bulk of the food off. That keeps the main wash water cleaner for longer and lets the conveyor run faster. The pre-wash is filled by water running back from the wash tank, so it uses no extra water.

Which direction does the CD240 run?
Your choice of two: left to right, where racks go in on the left and come out on the right, or right to left, where racks go in on the right and come out on the left. Both are the same price, but the direction is built in at the factory and cannot be changed later, so tell us which one you need and we will put it in your quote. Stand at the front of the machine facing it and look at where your dirty dish bench is. That is the loading end.

What power does the CD240 require?
415V three phase, 32A per phase, 21.0kW, hardwired with no lead or plug. This is not a single phase machine. Your electrician makes the connection, and the switch must be within 1m of the machine and not directly behind it.

What water supply does the Washtech CD240 need?
Hot water at 65°C through a 3/4 inch male connection, hose supplied, at 250 to 350kPa and 20 litres a minute, with dual check valve backflow prevention. It uses about 180L an hour, depending on your site.

What drain does the CD240 need?
A 1.5 inch BSP male waste connection to a drain line of 50mm minimum.

How much room does the CD240 need?
It is 2700mm long, 765mm deep and 1445mm high, plus your load and unload benches at each end. Send us your plan and we will check the run with you.

What are the controls on the Washtech CD240?
Washtech hybrid controls, the same simple system as the X series and the PW range. There is nothing to program, any staff member can run it, and the parts are simple and cheap to replace. Our Washtech controls guide explains it.

Is the CD240 easy to clean?
Yes. The upper and lower wash arm cassettes and the rinse arms lift out, and the full width stainless steel filter trays pull out for cleaning at the end of the day.

What comes with the Washtech CD240?
The machine, two 500mm dish racks (600 70028), two 500mm cup racks (600 70029), two cutlery containers (C660503) and a cutlery basket (C660508). There is no lead or plug, as it is hardwired.

How big is the Washtech CD240 packed?
Packed it is 2855mm long, 1000mm deep and 1950mm high, and weighs 440kg. Delivery is quoted for your site and may need a site inspection first.

How much is delivery on the Washtech CD240?
It is quoted for your site. Conveyors are long and heavy, so delivery depends on access, doorways, corridors, lifts and stairs, and we may need to inspect the site first. Call us on 0412 034948 and we will work out the delivery with you.

How do I order the Washtech CD240?
Call or email us for a quote. A conveyor is not a checkout purchase: we confirm the direction, power, water, drain, canopy, bench layout and delivery access with you first, so the machine that turns up fits your site and goes straight in.

Is the Washtech CD240 WaterMark approved?
Yes. It is WaterMark approved.
