The Friginox MX15-5AECR is a 4 tray reach-in blast chiller and freezer that takes 15kg from +70°C down to +3°C, or 5kg down to -18°C, per cycle. It holds 4 x 1/1 GN trays, runs on simple electromechanical timer controls and plugs into a 10A 240V power point. Made by Friginox in France, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.
Best for: Smaller kitchens and cafes that need a straightforward blast chiller without touch screen controls, a core probe or HACCP data logging.
MX15-5AECR overview
This is the economy unit in the Friginox reach-in range. It sits in the same 770mm x 790mm x 945mm cabinet as the MX20AT7R, but swaps the touch screen and probe for simple timer controls. If you need the chiller built into a bench line, the MX20AENCT7R is the built-in version of the MX20.
How the MX15-5AECR chills
You pick chill, freeze or hard and set the time. The air cooled condensing unit drives a double air flow evaporator that moves cold air across all 4 trays. Once the cycle ends the unit drops into preservation mode on its own and holds the food cold until you get to it.
The door closes itself and seals magnetically, and stays open past 90 degrees for loading and unloading. Inside corners are rounded and the door gasket comes out, which makes the cabinet easier to keep clean. The runners are removable and adjust to 64mm or 32mm spacing. It runs on R455A refrigerant.
Which Friginox blast chiller do I need?
All three run on R455A, take 1/1 GN trays and run on 10A 240V power. The difference is controls, capacity and whether it stands free or builds in.

Simple to use
There is no menu to learn and nothing to program. Pick the cycle, set the timer and close the door. The display shows the cabinet temperature in °C, and a manual de-icing switch clears the evaporator if it ices up.

What is the difference between the MX15-5AECR and the MX20AT7R?
The MX20AT7R is the same 770mm wide cabinet with a 7 inch touch screen, a 3 point core probe, 40 programmable cycles and 5 tray capacity. It chills 20kg and freezes 10kg per cycle. The MX15-5AECR runs on timer controls only, takes 4 trays and does 15kg chill or 5kg freeze.
What is the difference between the MX15-5AECR and the MX20AENCT7R?
The MX20AENCT7R is the built-in version of the MX20, 900mm wide and 820mm high, made to fit into a bench line. The MX15-5AECR is a freestanding reach-in on adjustable legs.
Does the MX15-5AECR have a core probe?
No. It runs in timer mode only. You set the cycle time at the start. If you want probe control, look at the MX20AT7R.
How much can it chill and freeze?
Up to 15kg from +70°C down to +3°C, or 5kg from +70°C down to -18°C per cycle. Real loads vary with the food, how thick it is and the container it sits in.
What trays does it take?
4 x 1/1 GN trays on removable, adjustable runners. Set them at 64mm spacing for 5 positions or 32mm spacing for 9.
What happens at the end of a cycle?
It switches to preservation mode on its own and holds the temperature, so the food stays cold until you unload it.
Can I get a left hinge door?
Yes. It comes right hinged as standard. Left hinge is available, just let us know which when you order.
What power does it need?
A 10A 240V power point. It is a plug in unit rated at 0.95kW.
What room temperature can it run in?
Friginox rates it for an ambient temperature of 15°C to 32°C. It has an air cooled condensing unit, so give it room to breathe and keep it away from fryers and ovens.
How do I defrost it?
There is a manual de-icing switch that clears ice off the evaporator.
