Product Overview

The Washtech XL is a high speed pass through dishwasher built for volume. It runs a fast 40 second cycle and washes up to 1620 dishes an hour, driven by a 1.5HP wash pump and an exclusive fan jet wash system that gives even spray coverage across the full rack. It takes 500mm to 600mm racks including a 600mm GN tray rack, and connects to hot water.

Unlike many passthrough machines, the XL uses mains water pressure to power the rinse, so there is no separate rinse booster pump or break tank to install or maintain. That keeps the machine simpler and cheaper to run. It uses Washtech hybrid push button controls, the same reliable, low cost boards as the rest of the X series, and starts automatically on hood closure.

Washtech is made in New Zealand and distributed in Australia by Moffat, and the XL carries the Washtech 5-2-2 promise: 5 years on the cabinet, 2 years on the wash pump and 2 years comprehensive parts and labour. It runs on 415V three phase power, with single phase options available, so an electrician makes the final connection. The XL uses an insulated hood and an exhaust canopy is required over the machine.

Best for: high volume restaurants, hotels, hospitals and catering kitchens seating 150 covers or more that need maximum throughput with minimal complexity.

Does the XL need an exhaust hood?

Yes, an exhaust canopy is usually required over the machine to clear the steam. If you cannot fit an exhaust, the power can be reduced or look at the Washtech XP. Another option that does not require a hood is the M2C or the ALC, which have a built in condenser.

How does the XL compare to the XP?

The XP is ideal for 100 to 150 seats, the XL can keep up with 200 seat restaurants. The XP has cycle times of 60, 120 or 180 seconds, the XL cycle times of 40, 60 or 90 seconds. The difference that allows these quicker times is the wash pump. The XP has a 1HP pump compared to the XL pump of 1.5HP. The more powerful pump moves more water and allows faster wash cycles. Both share the simple, low cost X series controls.

Does the XL need a rinse booster pump?

Not usually. The XL uses mains water pressure and flow to power the rinse. A water supply flow of 20 litres per minute is ideal. If there is slow flow, a booster pump is an option.

Does it need an electrician and a plumber?

An electrician will be required. The XL runs on 415V three phase power at 15A per phase, with single phase options available, so it is hardwired rather than plugged in and a nearby isolating switch is recommended. The water and chemical hoses come in the supplied connection kit, and the drain hose just needs connecting to a spigot near by.

What clearance does it need?

Allow 300mm at the front for service access. For corner installs the machine must face left for access to the controls, sit so racks push into the back, and any splashback return should be no higher than 150mm.
