Blue Seal GT45E Vee Ray Digital Gas Fryer 450mm

The Blue Seal GT45E Vee Ray is the digital version of the GT45, a high performance 450mm single pan gas fryer with a patented infra-red burner system.

Two 45MJ/hr infra-red burners heat a 20 litre open pan to fry up to 31kg an hour, and a large cool zone lets crumbs settle below the burners to keep the oil clean and lasting longer.

The E stands for digital control. Instead of a dial, the GT45E has a digital display thermostat that gives tighter temperature accuracy and shows the actual oil temperature as it cooks. It has 3 programmable product timers with countdown displays and alarms: drop a basket and the timer counts down, then alerts you when it is done, and you can set each timer to a different product on a different cook time, so you run several baskets to their own times at once. It also adds heating and basket drop displays, programmable melt cycles, and straight or temperature compensating cook control.

The infra-red burners transfer heat from the burner to the pan more efficiently than a direct flame, which loses energy to the surrounds, so the GT45E heats faster and uses less gas for the same output. The stainless steel pan carries a 10 year limited warranty.

Blue Seal Evolution Series is made by Moffat. The GT45E runs on natural gas or LPG, so a licensed gas fitter makes the connection, and it also needs a standard 10A power point for the digital control. Like all Moffat gas fryers, it has a gas regulator built in, so a separate regulator is not required and should not be fitted, since an extra regulator becomes a point of failure. The GT45E is supplied set to the gas type you order and includes a conversion kit, so if you order natural gas the LPG conversion kit comes with it for later use if you ever need to switch.

What does the E digital control add over the GT45?

The GT45E has a digital display thermostat in place of the dial. That gives tighter temperature accuracy and shows the actual oil temperature on the display, so you are not guessing where the dial sits. It also adds programmable product timers with countdown and alarms, heating and basket drop displays, and programmable melt cycles.

How do the basket timers work?

The GT45E has 3 programmable product timers. Drop a basket and start its timer, and it counts down then alerts you with an alarm when the product is done. Each timer can be set to a different product on a different time, so you can run several baskets to their own cook times at once without watching the clock.

What is the infra-red burner system?

Instead of a direct flame under the pan, the Vee Ray uses infra-red burners that radiate heat into the pan. That transfers more of the gas energy into the oil and less into the surrounds, so the GT45E heats faster, recovers quicker between baskets and uses less gas for the same output.

Does the GT45E need a power point?

Yes. As well as the gas connection, the digital control needs a standard 240V 10A power point, and a plug cordset is supplied. The dial GT45 does not need power, so choose the GT45E if you want the digital control and timers.

Does the GT45E come with a gas conversion kit?

Yes. The GT45E is supplied set to the gas type you order and includes the conversion kit for the other gas type. So if you order natural gas, the LPG conversion kit comes with it, ready if you ever need to change the fryer over later. Note it also has a built in gas regulator, so a separate regulator should not be fitted.
