Washtech GM Glasswasher Review: What’s New in 2025

The new Washtech GM glass washer GM Touch has been on the market for a few months now, and it’s time for an honest, hands-on review. This upgraded model brings meaningful improvements in its user interface, wash performance, energy-saving design, and serviceability, making it one of the most dependable commercial glasswashers available in Australia.

Smarter User Interface (UI)

One of the biggest changes in the new Washtech GM is its upgraded user interface. The old membrane keypad has been replaced with a colour touch screen display, similar to a smartphone. It’s not just prettier – it’s smarter. The UI directly controls the relay PCB, managing power to the wash pump, heaters, rinse system, sensors, and more.

Thanks to this, operators can now set minimum rinse and wash temperatures, adjust drain and refill times, and better monitor wash progress with clear graphical indicators. Developed in partnership with the dairy industry, the new UI is built for durability and reliability in harsh commercial environments.

Improved Wash and Rinse Arms

Wash performance has also received a significant engineering upgrade. The previous GM used stainless-steel arms with end caps that often came loose, affecting rinse action. In the latest version, the wash and rinse arms use F1 developed composite materials, GM specs removing the need for end caps altogether.

This design keeps the rinse and wash arms separate for better rotation and cleaning consistency. The lighter composite arms rotate more easily, improving water coverage across all types of glassware.

Taller Wash Chamber Design

Another standout revision is the taller wash chamber. It now accepts a full range of glass sizes and plates, giving greater versatility in demanding hospitality venues. The redesigned rack holder can accommodate angled placement, preventing water from pooling at the base of glasses – a thoughtful feature that previously required expensive special racks on other brands.

This flexibility makes the Washtech GM not only a glasswasher but also a compact undercounter dishwasher option for smaller bars or cafés.

Updated Base and Leg System

In the new GM, the old 150mm adjustable legs have been replaced with two rear wheels and front adjustable feet. This redesign allows for easier mobility for cleaning, better airflow, and improved access for servicing. The machine still supports both 70mm and 150mm legs for venues that require specific bench heights.

Eco Efficiency and Energy Savings

Energy and water efficiency have always been Washtech's strong points, the 2025 GM pushes it further. The previous version used just 2.5 litres per cycle, the new GM now consumes only 2.2 litres per cycle.

This efficiency reduces operating costs significantly in busy venues. The GM’s eco mode quickly powers down heating when idle, reducing energy waste. Since both water use and energy costs are major expenses in commercial kitchens, this small change translates into meaningful savings.

Easier Cleaning and Maintenance

Simple Wide Filter

The cleaning system has seen one of the most important improvements. Gone is the old sump with a drain plug, often blocked by coffee beans or debris. It’s been replaced by a wide sump intake with a stainless-steel basket filter that’s easy to remove and clean.

The new GM automatically maintains its water level, meaning operators no longer need to manually monitor or reset drain plugs. This improvement reduces downtime, improves wash pressure, and keeps internal components cleaner for longer.

Warranty and Technical Support

The Washtech GM now comes with a 2-year parts and labour warranty, showing Moffat Australia’s confidence in the product’s build quality. Customers also benefit from nationwide service coverage and free technical support, ensuring fast assistance when needed.

This level of after-sales support is ideal for busy hospitality venues where downtime needs to be minimised.

Simple Installation and Chemical Setup

The new GM is fully plug-and-play, supplied with hot and cold water hoses, a multi-fit drain hose, and pre-attached chemical lines. For most glasswashing setups, only the hot water line is required, and rinse aid usage is optional.

Chemical dosing is adjustable via the touchscreen, with factory presets that can easily be reduced to suit your glass load or chemical concentration.

If you need step-by-step setup advice, we’ve included guidance on dosing and installation in our GM product page. Washtech GM
