Specifications from the Moffat Australia Washtech PW3C spec sheet (PDF download).

The Washtech PW3C is a wide body pass through warewasher and potwasher with an integrated heat recovery unit, so no exhaust canopy is required. The C stands for condenser. The lift up hood opens onto a 1050mm wide, 640mm deep and 650mm high chamber that takes two 500mm racks side by side, or crates, bins, pots and trays. It runs 3, 5 and 7 minute cycles with twin 2.0HP wash pumps, hybrid controls and an assured 82°C rinse, uses 4.0 litres per cycle and runs on 415V three phase. $32,580 ex GST. Made in New Zealand by Washtech, distributed and serviced in Australia by Moffat.

Best for: Hospitals, aged care, production kitchens, bakeries and large catering operations that run two racks at a time through an inline dish run, where an exhaust canopy is difficult or expensive to install.

Washtech PW3C overview

The PW3C is the condenser version of the Washtech PW3. It keeps the wide chamber, the lift up hood, the twin 2.0HP pumps and the assured rinse, and adds a heat recovery unit on top that captures the steam from every cycle at the machine. Two racks at a time means a lot of steam, and the PW3C keeps it out of the room. If you only need one rack at a time, the Washtech AL8C is the single version. If you need a standalone front loader, the Washtech PW2C.

How the heat recovery unit works

The PW3C has two water feeds. Hot water fills the tank, so the wash is up to temperature quickly at start up. Cold water feeds the rinse and runs through the heat recovery unit on its way in, the steam from each cycle condenses on it, and the incoming water is preheated at the same time. That keeps the steam out of the room and cuts the energy needed to heat the rinse. Moffat can supply the SEED certification on request.

How the Washtech PW3C cleans

Twin 2.0HP wash pumps drive robust stainless steel wash and rinse arms with precision stainless steel jets through a heavy-duty stainless steel manifold. Choose the 3 minute cycle for racks of crockery, or 5 or 7 minutes for heavily soiled pots, bins and trays. The break tank and rinse pump deliver the 82°C rinse, and a dual stage stainless steel filtration system with dual scrap trays and a separate wash inlet filter keeps the wash water clean.

Which Washtech wide body do I need?

The PW2 and PW2C are front loaders with a split door. The PW3 and PW3C are pass throughs with a lift up hood.

Simple to use

Pick a cycle, slide two racks in and pull the counter-sprung hood down. The PW3C uses Washtech's hybrid controls, the same simple PCB boards as the AL8 and the X series, so any staff member can run it and repairs are cheap. The Washtech control families are explained in our Washtech controls guide.

Warranty and support

The Washtech PW3C is covered by 2 years on site parts and labour from Moffat Australia, with a national service network and spare parts stocked locally. Full details on our warranty page.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes the Washtech PW3C?
Washtech, in New Zealand. Washtech says the company started in 1981 as Wash Systems Limited, building its first undercounter dishwasher in a single car garage, and is now the largest manufacturer of professional dishwashing equipment in Australasia. Moffat distributes and services Washtech in Australia.

Does the PW3C need an exhaust canopy?
No. The C in PW3C stands for condenser. The integrated heat recovery unit captures the steam at the machine, so no canopy is required, and Moffat has the SEED certification for it on request.

What is the difference between the Washtech PW3C and the PW3?
Same 1050 x 640 x 650mm chamber, lift up hood, twin 2.0HP pumps, assured rinse, hybrid controls and 1195mm bench gap. The PW3C adds the heat recovery unit on top, so it needs no canopy. It takes a cold water feed for the rinse as well as hot water for the fill, runs 3, 5 and 7 minute cycles against 2, 4 and 6, and stands 2015mm high against 1750mm. The Washtech PW3 needs a canopy over it and is $8,600 less ex GST.

What is the difference between the Washtech PW3C and the PW2C?
Both are wide body machines with heat recovery and twin 2.0HP pumps that take two 500mm racks at once. The PW3C is a pass through with a lift up hood like the AL8C, so it sits inline in a dish run with benches either side. The Washtech PW2C is a front loader with a split door, so it stands on its own, and its 750mm high chamber takes taller items than the PW3C's 650mm.

How many racks does the PW3C wash at once?
Two 500mm racks side by side, every cycle. Set up inline with benches either side, it does the job of two pass through dishwashers under one hood, and it washes the pots, bins and trays as well. If you only need one rack at a time, the Washtech AL8C is the single version.

What size items can the PW3C wash?
Anything that fits the 1050mm wide, 640mm deep and 650mm high chamber and clears the 650mm hood opening. That covers two 500mm racks side by side, crates, bins, large pots, GN pans and baking trays. Bakery rack adaptors are available for 16 and 18 inch trays. If you have a particular item in mind, send us its size and we will check it.

What bench gap does the Washtech PW3C need?
A 1195mm bench gap, with benches 855mm deep minimum and a bench height of 850 to 950mm. The machine is 1330mm wide, 920mm deep including the hood handle, and 2015mm high including the heat recovery unit. With the hood up it reaches 2445mm, give or take 50mm, so check your ceiling height.

What water supply does the PW3C need?
Two connections. Hot water at 65°C fills the tank, which gets the wash up to temperature faster at start up. Cold water under 25°C feeds the rinse through the heat recovery unit. Both are 3/4 inch male with hoses supplied, at 100 to 350kPa and 10 litres a minute. It uses 4.0 litres per cycle. If there is no hot water at the machine, the fill can run off a second cold line, but start up will be slower.

How does the heat recovery unit work?
The cold water feed runs through the heat recovery unit on its way into the machine. The steam from each cycle condenses on it, which takes the steam out of the air and preheats the incoming water at the same time.

What does SEED certification mean?
SEED stands for Sustainable by Engineering, Environment by Design. Moffat can supply the full SEED details and certification for the PW3C on request, which is the paperwork a certifier or council will ask for.

What power does the PW3C require?
415V three phase, hardwired, with no lead or plug supplied. It runs at 30A per phase, 19.5kW, or 20A per phase, 12kW, if your switchboard cannot supply the full load. The 20A set up is slower to recover. Tell us before you order which way you want it. This is not a single phase machine. Your electrician makes the connection.

What is an assured rinse?
The PW3C does not rinse straight off your mains supply. A break tank and rinse pump deliver the 82°C rinse at a consistent pressure every cycle, so it copes with a low pressure water supply.

What are the hybrid controls on the Washtech PW3C?
Hybrid is Washtech's name for the X series control system: simple PCB boards for cycle timing and temperature, with IP67 stainless switches. Pick a cycle, slide the racks in and pull the counter-sprung hood down to start. There is nothing to program, and the parts are simple and cheap to replace. Our Washtech controls guide explains it.

What drain does the PW3C need?
A 1.5 inch BSP male waste connection to a drain line of 50mm minimum.

Are detergent and rinse aid pumps included?
Yes. Detergent and rinse aid pumps are fitted as standard, with injector lines supplied.

What comes with the Washtech PW3C?
The machine, a 500mm dish rack (600 70028), a 500mm cup rack (600 70029), a 435mm cup cover (K0452), a cutlery basket (C660508), the water supply hose and the chemical injector lines. There is no lead or plug, as it is hardwired.

How big is the Washtech PW3C packed?
Packed it is 1450mm wide, 1100mm deep and 2055mm high, and weighs 305kg. It is a big machine, so check your doorways, ceiling heights and any stairs before delivery day.

How much is delivery on the Washtech PW3C?
Use the Freight Cost Guide button on this page for the exact price to your postcode, including whether a tailgate is needed. On a machine this size, call us and we will confirm access before it ships.

Is the Washtech PW3C WaterMark approved?
Yes. It has WaterMark approved backflow prevention, using an atmospheric vacuum breaker.

Can I get a scratch and dent Washtech PW3C?
Sometimes. Moffat occasionally has units with freight damage or ex-display units at a reduced price. Ask if you want one and we will check availability.
